United Airlines has unveiled a groundbreaking nonstop service between Houston and Puerto Escondido International Airport (PMX), marking the first-ever scheduled international flight for the airport. The new route, which began on April 5, will operate three times a week aboard Embraer 175 aircraft.

According to data from OAG Schedules Analyser, United Airlines plans to operate 48 nonstop U.S.-Mexico routes during the summer 2025 season, with 23 of those routes originating from IAH.

The launch of this international flight coincides with a major infrastructure investment at Puerto Escondido International Airport. A $200 million expansion project is underway to modernize and expand the terminal, with the aim of increasing annual capacity to over 3 million passengers. The first phase of the project will improve the airport’s facilities to better accommodate the growing demand and enhance the passenger experience.
