This historical maximum amount is issued based on the figures from the Airport Operational Statistics, presented by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT), corresponding to December 2023, in which the Yucatán air terminal was positioned between the eight first entities in the entire country in terms of passengers, which represented a growth of 19.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. This translated into a greater increase than the national one, which stood at 11.6%, which is why our state was placed among the first four places in the ranking of accumulated growth of airports with the highest passenger flow. Specifically, 343,514 passengers were registered at the Mérida International Airport last December, a figure that also represents a historical maximum for that month, and which represented an annual increase of 4.9%, higher than the national increase of 2.9%, placing the state within the first three places in the annual growth ranking. On the other hand, in the cargo segment, the “Manuel Crescencio Rejón” Airport registered a total of 26,027 tons, which also translates into the historical maximum in volume for a year, placing this terminal within the first ten places in this item. As a result, Yucatán was placed, once again, in first place in the accumulated growth ranking, thus equaling the best position recorded for the entity, for the third time in history, with amounts that represented an increase of 14.9%, compared to the same period in 2022, a figure that is higher than the national figure of 4%. In this sense, in December 2023, the Mérida Airport registered a total load of 2,483 tons, being another historical maximum and first place in annual increase with a percentage of 17.4%, higher than the national figure of 3.3%, this being the best position for the entity in history.
