Home Area Attractions My Mexico Adventure My Mexico Adventure by Erin May April 7, 2012 by Erin May 10.6K After 10 days of driving from Calgary to the State of Oaxaca we reached our destination to our home in Puerto Angel, a small fishing village only 40 minutes from Huatulco airport. After over 4 months of living here there are 3 things I know for sure: 1. Even though we don’t speak the same language (yet), smiles are universal 🙂 and people truly appreciate when you try to speak their language, no matter how badly you butcher it. 2. Sun, Surf and Sand are the best remedies for anything 3. Despite the media hype, Mexico is not scary. I have never felt safer living in Puerto Angel. This lovely little village and this entire country has the most generous and kind people, delicious food and the most beautiful culture and traditions I’ve seen. Lovin every minute of it! Check out these great articles discussing Mexico and Safety…and don’t believe the hype people. Come to Puerto Angel and you will see why Oaxaca is considered one of the areas of Mexico that is safe for travel.
