Home Beaches Riscalillo Bay Riscalillo Bay by Brent May January 3, 2020 by Brent May 4K Riscalillo Bay is part of Huatulco’s National Park (Parque Nacional Huatulco). It is boat-accessible only, just a 15-minute ride south west of Santa Cruz Bay. Riscalillo Bay, home to the beach of the same name, is located between Chachacual Bay and San Agustin Bay. Riscalillo beach has soft white sand and a soft slope with shallow waters making it an ideal beach to go with children. The beach is perfect for swimming, snorkeling and diving. Its protected status, with its preserved nature, beautiful scenery and few people, also make it an ideal place to observe wildlife. An especially great beach for observing birds, you may see an osprey or “the fishing eagle” or chachalacas. If you go for a snorkel, you will likely see a large variety of tropical fish such as angel, balloon, butterfly, trumpet, etc. Some scenes of the Mexican film “Y tu mamá también” were shot in this scenic bay. The film was produced by famous Mexican director, Alfonso Cuarón and star Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal. Since it is part of Huatulco’s National Park (Parque Nacional Huatulco) there are some rules and precautions you should follow in order to help preserve the beach: Don’t wear sunscreen if you are going to snorkel (or use a coral reef-friendly brand). Don’t manipulate species or step p coral. Don’t take sea shells. Use boat services from providers that have authorizations and permits. You will easily find them in the Santa Cruz Marina or Marina Chahue. 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail Brent May Brent May is the GM and Founder of Mexico Living.
