This was announced by Miguel Aguiñiga, Director of Market Development and Distribution of the company, who explained that these new destinations that will connect the border city will be added to the Mexicali-El Bajío flight. In a press conference, the executive highlighted the connectivity that Tijuana has, since it offers 29 routes in the mexican territory and two abroad. “During the week we have an offer of 118 thousand seats, and 665 flights that operate from the Tijuana airport.” With this, he said, Volaris is located as the first airline in that air terminal. “Just for Tijuana we have destined 14 airships”; one of the reasons why the air terminal of this city is one of the bases of maintenance. “In 2017, 16.4 million passengers were transported by Volaris, of which 1.3 million flew this transport for the first time,” and the total number of passengers represented 65% of the airport’s total market. He added that from 2010 to 2017 the fare dropped to less than 1,500 pesos in single flight, “which has resulted in more passengers. In 2010 there were 2,121 passengers while last year the figure reached 4,749. To the event attended Shadia Wehbe, Director of Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism, representing its owner, Óscar Escobedo Carignan, who noted that in the first half of the year, tourism in Baja California has grown 11% compared to the same period of the last year. Therefore, he predicted that the goal of 27 million visitors will be exceeded. Trend that has been up since 2016 when the entity received 25 million tourists. Meanwhile, Esteban de Anda, director of Marketing and Marketing Club Xoloitzcuentles, said that as part of the alliance between “Xolos” and Volaris will be given a promotion code to whoever purchases the Xolopas, which may be used throughout the Open Tournament 2018.
