Home Beaches La Bocana La Bocana by Brent May February 10, 2015 by Brent May 7.8K La Bocana is located about a 15 minute drive east of Santa Cruz. It’s name meaning ‘outlet’ or ‘mouth’ (in this case of the Copalita River), it is a primal place of craggy rocks and exploding surf. Surfers discovered this region and it’s good surf waves and began competing here in 2003, increasing its popularity. The beach has several palapa restaurants and a small hotel. Head down to the beach and grab a cerveza or snack from one of the palapa restaurants and watch the surfers ride…or take a surf lesson of your own. You can also head east of the beach and do some bird watching. La Bocana is also the outlet for river rafting trips down the Copalita. To get to La Bocana you can expect to pay approximately $6-$8 for a taxi ride from the resort area of Tangolunda. It’s worth the trip! bahias de huatulcohuatulco beachesla bocanaPlaya la Bocana 0 FacebookTwitterPinterestEmail Brent May Brent May is the GM and Founder of Mexico Living.
