As a matter of fact, the country has landed the 12th spot in the list of the world’s largest economies. Mexico is just ripe for retirement and future investments. The Low Cost of Living Rumor has it that the cost of living in Oaxaca, Mexico is so low that you can live on your Social Security checks alone. Technically, you can but you won’t be living a life of luxury of course. This doesn’t mean that it is expensive to live in Oaxaca. As a matter of fact, real estate properties, utility bills, and transportation bills are about half or at least a quarter lower in Oaxaca than what they would normally cost in the United States. Your monthly water bills can go as low as just $20 (or $10 every fortnight) and you can even find really good properties at just $200,000. If there is one reason to retire to Oaxaca, Mexico, it’s the affordable lifestyle. The Ease of Acquiring a Property There used to be Restricted Zones in Mexico that pretty much meant non-Mexican residents could not own a property along the beach so foreign investors couldn’t get in the game for quite some time. All that has changed now because today, the country allows foreigners to own land in the Restricted Zones via the Mexican Bank Trust, otherwise referred to as the Fideicomiso. This agreement now allows foreigners to acquire land in the highly sought after Restricted Zones. The Natural Beauty of Mexico Cozumel, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, the Yucatan Peninsula and Oaxaca are just some of the most beautiful places in the world and you can find them all in Mexico.
